Crofting life in Wester Ross

Kinlochewe and the hamlet of Incheril where Greenhill is located have not changed much. Click on the link to understand what the parish of Gairloch was like in the latter half of the 19th century. "Gairloch in North West Ross-Shire" by John Henry Dixon. Listen to the audio extract.

This is the earliest map we could find with Greenhill/ Blarmore. It was surveyed in 1875 by Lieutenant F H Fawkes.

We believe that Greenhill is the middle of the three buildings shown in the enlarged section from Lieut Fawkes' map.

The first reference we can find of the house being called Greenhill is in a marriage certificate dated 1923.
